‘Degrees in hand – Struggles for survival on the streets’ Is this a sign of progress..!!
What is the situation of today’s youth who study hard in India, carry their parents hopes and step out holding degree certificates in their hands..?? There are no dream jobs, no excitement over notifications. In the end, while those degree certificates remain confined to the walls of their homes, what comes into their hands for a livelihood is an auto steering wheel or a food delivery bag, or a bike taxi handle. With no job matching the education they received and insufficient earnings, the number of poor people is increasing day by day, depending on the small amount of ration rice provided by the government. This society has reached a situation where people have to push and stand in queues for ration cards.
How are the lives of these working people who toil day and night, turning their blood into sweat, without caring about the scorching sun or rain, and roaming the streets? Due to decisions such as free bus schemes, the daily income of auto drivers has fallen by more than half, this is an undeniable reality. On top of that, everywhere there is a trap of traffic police challans, and even if one moves a little this way or that near a signal, there is a special mechanism focused only on taking photos and issuing challans without seeing the hardship of the working person. If out of the Rs.500 earned after working hard all day, Rs.300 is being paid just for challans, how will that family have enough to eat..??
● Is this slavery that cannot confront the leaders..??
Governments proudly proclaim with false grandeur, ‘We have issued lakhs of new ration cards’ but put your hand on your heart and think, are these increased ration cards a sign of the people’s economic development..?? Or are they the failure of rulers who have pushed people further into poverty and made them scramble for ration rice..?? This is a conspiracy to keep people merely as ‘beneficiaries’ in the name of free ration rice and free schemes. Even in giving that, conditions apply. By making people look hopefully toward the rulers every month for that small amount of rice and for schemes, they have gradually killed the self-respect that should exist among the people, the voice that questions for their rights, and the courage to confront the leader.
Who is turning people into lazy people and slaves who live on the mercy and benevolence of rulers by giving only free promises without providing employment guarantees or eliminating unemployment..?? Is turning voters into weaklings in the manner of ‘Eat the rice we give and lie down. Do not question us’ not modern-day slavery..?? Why do we not have the courage to look into the eyes of the rulers and question them…??
When will the time come to firmly question the leaders and rulers who win with our votes and sit in AC rooms…?? What kind of progress is it to feel happy by showing the numbers of increased ration cards without giving jobs to educated youth..?? Should a poor person always stand in a queue holding a bag of ration rice..?? Should his children also complete degrees and drive autos..?? Instead of making people aware and empowering them to stand on their own feet, is it not a betrayal to drown them in the intoxication of freebies and turn them into weaklings who cannot confront the leader..?? The free ration rice provided by the government may be a temporary relief for survival, but it should not become a tool that kills your ability to think and your self-respect. At least now, we must give up the intoxication of freebies ‘We do not want the alms of free ration rice’ we want a job matching our education. We want income and security commensurate with our hard work. The courage to look into the ruler’s eyes and question them must arise among the people. Only when we abandon the mindset of bowing our heads to a slave’s life and raise our voice for permanent employment, freedom and self-respect will the chains of slavery on the poor man’s feet be broken.
