The XI Telangana State Shooting Championship commenced today(21st June, 2025) at the SATS Shooting Range, University of Hyderabad, Gachibowli, with tremendous enthusiasm and a vibrant display of sporting spirit. Organized by the Telangana Rifle Association (TRA), the championship has brought together over 500 shooters from across Telangana, comprising both emerging talents and seasoned athletes. This landmark event marks a significant milestone in the state’s sporting calendar and reinforces TRA’s commitment to nurturing competitive shooting. The training day witnessed an impressive turnout, with participants actively engaged in intensive practice sessions across multiple ranges—including 10M Air Rifle/Pistol, 25M Pistol, 50M Rifle, and Trap events. The venue was filled with anticipation as athletes fine-tuned their skills, preparing themselves for the challenging days ahead.

 

The inaugural ceremony was led by Mr. Amit Sanghi, President of the Telangana Rifle Association and Vice President of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), accompanied by TRA’s core committee members. Mr. Sanghi, along with the leadership team, toured the competition areas—25M, 50M, and Shotgun (Trap) ranges—to inspect facilities and equipment, ensuring compliance with international standards. He also took time to interact with the participants, offering words of encouragement and acknowledging their commitment to the sport.

 

Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Amit Sanghi said: “This championship is more than just a competition—it is a celebration of the growing talent pool and infrastructure in Telangana. The passion and performance of our young shooters reflect a bright future for shooting sports in the state.” The main competition rounds will officially begin tomorrow, 22nd June, from 8:00 AM onwards, featuring events such as Trap, 25M Pistol, and 10M Air Pistol for both men and women. Over the coming days, athletes will compete under strict, internationally recognized rules and technical standards, ensuring a fair and high-caliber tournament.
