The Task Force police seized 72 red sandalwood logs, one lorry and one car in the Srikalahasti forest area of Tirupati district and arrested seven smugglers. Under the guidance of Task Force Head L. Subbarayudu, the Task Force SP P. Srinivas and RSI C. Vinod Kumar team conducted a combing operation in the Srikalahasti forest area on Sunday. The entry and exit points were checked and vehicles were checked at Dommarapalem on Pangur Main Road within the Katuru Forest Beat area. On Monday morning, a car and a lorry behind it stopped at a distance and the people in it tried to flee. With this, the Task Force police reached and surrounded them. When the lorry was inspected, 72 red sandalwood logs were found in it. Their value was estimated to be around Rs. 2.5 crores. When the people in the vehicles were arrested, four of them were identified as residents of Tirupati district and three others as residents of Tamil Nadu. They were taken to the Tirupati Task Force Police Station along with the red sandalwood logs.
