Uppal Police of the Malkajgiri Commissionerate arrested two persons within six hours in connection with a murder that took place in the Chilkanagar area on Saturday night. The case came to light after a complaint was lodged by Kanupur Srikanth, a 30-year-old hotel worker from Medipally. He informed police that his brother-in-law, Paruvula Sudheer Kumar, was attacked following a dispute with Banothu Santosh. According to police, Santosh and his friend Podishetty Tarun allegedly called Sudheer Kumar to Chilkanagar ground around 7:30 pm. Sudheer went to the location along with his friend Imran Khan on a motorcycle. During the meeting, an argument broke out between Sudheer and Santosh. In the altercation, Santosh allegedly stabbed Sudheer with a knife. When Sudheer attempted to flee, Santosh and Tarun chased him and stabbed him multiple times, killing him on the spot before fleeing the scene. Based on the complaint, Uppal Police registered a case under Crime No. 364/2026 under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. During the investigation, police arrested Banothu Santosh (28), a Rapido rider, and Podishetty Tarun (22), a car driver, both residents of Uppal. Police recovered the knife used in the crime, two mobile phones belonging to the accused, an Activa motorcycle (TG09A6087), and the clothes worn during the offence. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused and the deceased were known to each other and had an argument over phone calls related to a house-warming function invitation, which later escalated into the fatal attack. The arrests were made by Uppal Police under the supervision of senior officers of the Malkajgiri Commissionerate.
