Chevi Reddy Mohit Reddy, YSRCP In-charge of Chandragiri Constituency, has strongly condemned the alleged illegal soil excavation by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) members at Padi Cheruvu, located between Padipeta and Mundlapudi in Tirupati Rural Mandal. He accuses the TDP of depriving livelihood to MGNREGA workers for the benefit of their party members.

During his visit to the Padi Cheruvu site on Sunday, accompanied by local farmers and MGNREGA workers, Mohit Reddy expressed outrage at the extensive and indiscriminate digging, which has severely damaged the water body. He alleged that TDP leaders are illegally transporting soil for personal gain, disregarding the impact on the environment and the livelihoods of poor villagers.

“Are you filling the pockets of TDP workers by robbing the livelihood of MGNREGA workers?” Mohit Reddy questioned, addressing the local administration. “Are you destroying natural resources for illegal profits and terrorizing those who question you? Are you leaving the poor without any means of survival? Is this the governance and development being showcased by MLA Pulivarthi Nani?”

He accused the TDP of rampant corruption, involving the sale of sand, soil, and government lands for commissions, and warned of intensified protests if the illegal transportation of soil is not halted. Mohit Reddy vowed to fight on behalf of the people and ensure that officials take action to stop these illegal activities.

MGNREGA workers at the site complained that the soil excavation has left them without work, forcing them to migrate in search of employment. They stated that approximately 500 workers from Mundlapudi, Padipeta, and Vemuru Panchayats depend on the Padi Cheruvu for their livelihood.

Mohit Reddy assured the workers of his support and urged the villagers to unite against the illegal soil transportation. He announced his intention to file a complaint with the District Collector and Superintendent of Police, demanding immediate action.

“We respect the District Collector and SP and hope they will address this issue for the benefit of the people,” he stated. “If the illegal soil transportation is not stopped and cases are not filed against those involved, we will launch large-scale protests.”
