The registration of a POCSO case against Bandi Bhagirath, son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, on allegations of sexually assaulting a minor girl has created a sensation across the country. However, instead of appearing before the law immediately after the case was registered and proving his innocence, approaching the High Court now is giving rise to further suspicions. The question ‘If he has done nothing wrong, why fear?’ is now being strongly raised among the public.

If an ordinary young man had been accused in the same case, the police would likely have already broken down his doors, arrested him, and presented him before the media. But since the accused is the son of a BJP leader from the ruling party at the Centre, public anger is growing over whether even the law is moving slowly. Allegations that Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy intervened to protect his political ally and Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar have now become a major topic of discussion. Claims that mainstream media was prevented from prominently covering the issue for two days, and that the system remained silent long enough for the accused to go underground, are further deepening public suspicion. Now, with the accused approaching the High Court, all these developments together are fueling serious doubts among people.

Even though major media outlets allegedly tried to downplay the news, public opinion on social media appears clear. Youth in particular are reacting with intense anger. Questions are being raised nationwide ‘Are political leaders protecting each other instead of ensuring justice for a minor girl?’
A recent video from the Prime Minister’s public meeting, in which Revanth Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar were seen smiling together, is now going viral on social media. While the victim’s family is struggling for justice on one side, the leaders’ smiles are further intensifying public outrage.
History shows that people may forget politics, but they never forgive those in power who try to cover up injustice against girls. This case is no longer just a criminal matter; it is being seen as a symbol of arrogance of power, political collusion and inequality before the law.
In the coming days, this issue has the potential to turn into a political storm that could shake the futures of both Revanth Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
