Uppal MLA Bandari Lakshma Reddy Demands Immediate Apology from MP Tejasvi Surya

Medchal- Malkajgiri, Staff Reporter, April 16 (INDIAN CHRONICLE): Uppal MLA Bandari Lakshma Reddy has strongly criticized the BJP over controversial remarks made in Parliament regarding the formation of Telangana state. He demanded an immediate apology from BJP MP Tejasvi Surya for allegedly comparing the creation of Telangana with the division of India and Pakistan. Speaking to the media, Lakshma Reddy said the comparison was inappropriate and unacceptable, as Telangana was formed through a constitutional process. He stated that equating a democratically established state with a historical partition reflects poorly on the intent and attitude of the BJP towards Telangana. He further alleged that such remarks expose the party’s lack of genuine support for the state’s formation. Referring to the development achieved under former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, he questioned the role of the central government in supporting Telangana, claiming that due funds and national project status for key initiatives were not granted. Lakshma Reddy also expressed concern that despite representation from Telangana in Parliament and the presence of Union Ministers from the state, such statements were made without accountability. He called it a matter of concern that elected representatives failed to uphold the dignity of Telangana. He pointed out that late leader Sushma Swaraj had supported the Telangana movement, and said the recent remarks undermine that legacy. The MLA demanded that Tejasvi Surya issue a public apology to the people of Telangana. He also urged MPs from the state to either seek an apology or take responsibility for the remarks. Lakshma Reddy concluded by stating that the people of Telangana are closely observing political developments and will respond appropriately.
