Illegal Constructions on Sewer Lines Must Be Removed Immediately: Former Corporator Bannala Geetha

Chilkanagar: Serious drainage issues have been reported in Chilkanagar Division due to the absence of a proper sewage outlet. Sewage water flowing from Mallikarjun Nagar, Chiluka Nagar hill area, and Bodrai region has no exit point, leading to stagnation of both sewage and rainwater on roads. The lack of a proper outlet for the SWD (Storm Water Drain) pipeline has been causing severe inconvenience to residents in surrounding areas. Former Corporator Bannala Geetha, along with BRS leader Praveen Mudiraj, recently met Water Works Executive Director Pankaja to address the issue. The official assured that a field inspection would be conducted and necessary steps would be taken to install a new pipeline. Due to unavoidable reasons, senior officials including Water Works GM Santosh, DGM Supriya, and Manager Kishtayya were requested to visit the affected areas and prepare a detailed report on the drainage overflow problem. Responding to the request, Water Works Department officials led by Santosh, along with staff, visited Mallikarjun Nagar and nearby areas along with Bannala Geetha, Praveen Mudiraj, and local residents. They inspected the regions severely affected by sewage water stagnation. During the visit, Bannala Geetha explained the drainage issues in detail and discussed alternative solutions, including the construction of a trunk line to divert sewage water efficiently. She urged officials to ensure that the stagnant water on roads is redirected into irrigation canals through proper drainage planning. She also demanded immediate removal of illegal constructions over sewer and trunk lines, stating that such encroachments are obstructing the free flow of sewage. Strict action against encroachers was also requested to resolve the issue permanently. Several BRS leaders and local residents, including Eddula Kondal Reddy, Jalli Mohan, Muddam Srinivas Yadav, Masha Shekhar, MD Moulali, Shyam, and Bharat, participated in the inspection program in large numbers.
