Federation demands resolution of journalists’ long-pending issues

Medchal – Malkajgiri, July 9: The Telangana Working Journalists Federation (TWJF) has called upon journalists to participate in a statewide agitation demanding the resolution of long-pending issues affecting the media fraternity.

Addressing the media, TWJF Uppal Constituency Convener Singam Raju urged journalists to make the protest in front of the Medchal Collectorate on July 13 a success. He announced that memorandums would be submitted to the District Collector on the same day, followed by a mass dharna at the State Information Commissioner’s Office on July 15.

He alleged that the government has not shown adequate initiative in addressing journalists’ concerns. He pointed out that the existing journalists’ health cards are accepted only at NIMS and are not valid at other corporate hospitals. He demanded the immediate issuance of new health cards to all eligible journalists.

Singam Raju also expressed concern over the delay in the distribution of accreditation cards, stating that the delay has affected the issuance of bus passes. He urged the government to distribute accreditation cards to all eligible journalists without further delay.

He further demanded that the government expedite the allotment of house sites for journalists, provide a monthly pension of ₹10,000, and issue a Government Order extending 100% fee reimbursement for the children of journalists studying in private and corporate educational institutions. He appealed to the State Government to take immediate action on these pending demands.
