Hyderabad, July 8: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka paid rich tributes to former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR) on his birth anniversary, describing him as a champion of the poor whose welfare initiatives continue to serve as a model for the country.
The Deputy Chief Minister offered floral tributes to YSR’s statues at City Centre and Panjagutta. The programme was attended by Minister Sridhar Babu, Government Adviser Shabbir Ali, Planning Commission Vice-Chairman Chinna Reddy, MLA Danam Nagender, former MP K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, and other leaders. Bhatti Vikramarka also cut a cake to mark the occasion.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Chief Minister said YSR’s commitment to farmers was evident from his decision to sign the file for free electricity to farmers immediately after taking oath as Chief Minister. He said the landmark welfare programmes introduced by YSR transformed the lives of the poor and marginalised sections of society.
Bhatti Vikramarka noted that YSR always placed farmers and economically weaker sections at the centre of governance, adding that his vision and pro-poor policies continue to inspire future generations.
