Government appoints new District Medical and Health Officer with immediate effect

Medchal–Malkajgiri, July 9: Dr K. Anand has assumed charge as the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) of Medchal–Malkajgiri district following orders issued by the Telangana Government under G.O.Rt. No. 293, HM&FW (B) Department, dated July 8, 2026.

According to the government orders, Dr C. Uma Gowri, who was serving as the DMHO, has been relieved on administrative grounds and directed to report to the office of the Director of Public Health and Family Welfare, Hyderabad.

Dr K. Anand, who was serving as Civil Surgeon and Resident Medical Officer (RMO) at Niloufer Hospital, Hyderabad, has been appointed as the In-charge DMHO of Medchal–Malkajgiri with immediate effect.

After assuming office, Dr Anand paid courtesy visits to District Collector and Magistrate M. Manu Choudary, IAS, Additional Collector (ULB) Faizan Ahmed, IAS, and Additional Collector (Revenue) Vijender Reddy.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anand said he would strive to strengthen public healthcare services in the district in line with the government’s objectives. He stated that special focus would be given to the effective implementation of public health programmes, National Health Mission initiatives, and various welfare schemes.

Dr Anand brings extensive administrative and public health experience to the post. He previously served as Deputy District Medical and Health Officer for Malkajgiri Division, Superintendent of Medchal Community Health Centre, and District Officer for Maternal and Child Health Programmes under the National Health Mission. His experience in district healthcare administration and implementation of public health programmes is expected to strengthen health services across Medchal–Malkajgiri district.
