65-year-old arrested; 502 bottles of illegally manufactured fruit wine confiscated

Kapra, Medchal-Malkajgiri, July 8: The Medchal-Malkajgiri District Excise Task Force (DTF) busted an illegal fruit wine manufacturing unit in Kapra and arrested a 65-year-old man for allegedly producing and selling wine without a licence.

Acting on credible information, Excise officials conducted a surprise raid and apprehended Anthony Peter (65), a resident of Neredmet. During the operation, officials seized 377.7 litres of illegally manufactured fruit wine packed in 502 bottles, along with equipment used in the production process.

According to officials, the accused had been manufacturing wine using a fermentation process involving seven different ingredients, including grapes, pineapple, guava, sweet lime, sapota, banana, and betel leaves. The bottles were reportedly being sold at ₹300 each without the required permissions.

A case has been registered, and the accused, along with the seized material, has been handed over to the Kapra Excise Station for further investigation.

Excise officials warned that strict action would be taken against those involved in the illegal manufacture and sale of liquor or wine. They also appealed to the public to report any information related to illicit liquor production or sale to the Excise Department.
