Locals allege poor planning, demand inquiry into wasteful expenditure on park development

Kapra, July 14: Residents of Kapra have criticised the construction of unusually high compound walls around a children’s park, alleging that the project reflects poor planning and an unnecessary expenditure of public funds.

According to local residents, the elevated boundary walls have made the park resemble a closed enclosure rather than a recreational space for children. They argued that instead of improving play equipment, greenery, and other child-friendly amenities, a significant portion of the funds was spent on raising the compound wall.

Residents also alleged that the work was carried out without proper assessment of the site’s requirements and claimed that the project has reduced the park’s appeal for children and families. They questioned the planning process and expressed concern over the utilisation of public funds.

Demanding immediate intervention, the locals urged senior officials and the GHMC Zonal Commissioner to conduct an inquiry into the project, fix responsibility for any lapses, and ensure that such planning deficiencies are not repeated in future park development works.
