Children who have turned the inner road of Khammam Lakaram Tank Bund into their training ground are now excelling in state level competitions. Senior local athlete Shiva Sai Krishna is serving as their coach. Those who are interested in skating nearby and those who find the stadiums too crowded, are choosing Lakaram Tank Bund as their practice center. 
The number of people who come to Tank Bund for walking practice is already high. So, the skaters initially chose times when the place was less crowded for their training. As the number of children increased and advanced learners began facing space constraints, some of them shifted their skating practice to local Jayashankar Municipal Park in Prakash Nagar. Under coach Shiva Sai Krishna’s guidance, these young skaters who have already won medals continue their journey. Recently, state level roller skating competitions were held in Hyderabad and the children who participated achieved remarkable success.
In the 6–8 years category, Vallapu Tanvi won gold and silver and Guntupalli Omen won bronze. In the 10-year category, Guntupalli Sonakshi won gold, silver, and bronze medals. In the under-16 category, Lakshmi Chetana won two bronze medals. Among them, Sonakshi, who won three medals in different events, has qualified for the national level competitions, his is her second time being selected. Inspired by these achievements, more children are now taking up skating. Parents, too are showing increasing interest in the sport, encouraging their children over the years and helping them seize opportunities to prove their talent at the state and national levels a truly commendable accomplishment.
