Many people have been falling prey to cyber criminals. Using deceitful methods and sweet talk, these fraudsters are swindling large amounts of money from unsuspecting victims. Every day, they come up with new tricks to cheat the public and steal their cash. Under the guise of investment opportunities on social media, through phone calls, fake apps and message links, they collect people’s banking details and siphon off money. With cybercrimes increasing by the day, the police have intensified their focus on tackling them. In October, a large number of cybercrime cases were registered. Taking it as a challenge, the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police conducted searches across various states and successfully arrested several cyber criminals. A total of 55 individuals involved in cybercrime were taken into custody and ₹107 crore was recovered from them. In October alone, 196 FIRs related to cybercrimes were registered and 55 suspects were arrested. The police also managed to return around ₹66 lakh to victims who had lost their money to these fraudsters.
According to the police, the arrested accused are linked to 136 cases across the country and belong to eight different states. Most of them are reportedly from Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh. The police also seized mobile phones and laptops from the suspects.
