Three Others Flee; ₹6,950 Cash, Playing Cards, Mobile Phones and Vehicles Seized
Jawahar Nagar, September 23: Jawahar Nagar Police arrested three persons for allegedly gambling for money near the Jawahar Nagar Goshala on September 22.
According to police, at around 7:15 pm, SI K. Ramesh received credible information that a group of persons was allegedly playing a three-card gambling game for money near the goshala. After informing senior officers, he arranged two independent witnesses and proceeded to the spot with a police team.
Police found six persons allegedly engaged in gambling. On seeing the police, three persons identified as Ravi, Nagaraju and Raju fled from the spot. The remaining three persons, identified as Pittala Balaiah, 48, Erragunta Raju, 32, and Devaruppula Mahesh, 45, were taken into custody.
During the seizure proceedings conducted in the presence of witnesses, police recovered two sets of playing cards, with 52 cards in each set, ₹6,950 in cash, two mobile phones and three two-wheelers. The total value of the seized property was estimated at around ₹20,000.
Based on a complaint lodged by SI K. Ramesh, Jawahar Nagar Police registered a suo motu case and launched an investigation. C. Jitender Singh is conducting the investigation.
The arrested persons are Pittala Balaiah, a driver from BJR Nagar, Jawahar Nagar; Erragunta Raju, a mason residing near Noble School, Jawahar Nagar; and Devaruppula Mahesh, a mason from BJR Nagar, Jawahar Nagar.
Police said efforts are underway to trace Ravi, Nagaraju and Raju, who allegedly fled from the spot.
Seized property included two sets of playing cards, ₹6,950 cash, two mobile phones and three two-wheelers. The vehicles were a Platina bearing registration number AP29AV8732, an XL100 bearing registration number TS08EZ9258 and a Discover 150F bearing registration number TS07EE9122.
