Former Kapra Corporator Swarnaraj Sivamani Participates in Distribution Programme
Kapra, September 22: Former Kapra Division corporator Swarnaraj Sivamani, along with Medchal District Agricultural Market Committee Vice-Chairman Vithal Naik and Kapra Division Congress president Tanneeru Srihari, distributed new smart ration cards to beneficiaries in Gandhinagar.
Speaking on the occasion, the leaders said the Telangana government had officially launched the smart ration card programme in Sangareddy on August 15, 2026. They said the new digital smart cards were being provided free of cost to eligible families across the state as a replacement for the earlier paper-based ration cards.
Vithal Naik said the distribution of new smart ration cards was continuing across Telangana. He explained that the cards were designed in an ATM or debit-card format using durable PVC material. The cards carry the family head’s name and photographs of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.
He further said the QR code on the card can be scanned to access details of family members and information related to ration commodities received by the family, including rice, wheat and sugar.
Kapra Division Congress president Tanneeru Srihari said the distribution of ration cards was aimed at extending welfare benefits to eligible poor families. He said beneficiaries could collect their new smart ration cards through ration shops.
Ration dealer G. Balaiah, senior Congress leaders P. Pavan Kumar and G. Satyanarayana, along with others, participated in the programme.
