Dommati Kiran Kumar Rao Honoured with Acharya Kothapalli Jayashankar National Award

Hyderabad: Social activist and Telangana movement leader Dommati Kiran Kumar Rao was honoured with the Acharya Kothapalli Jayashankar National Award at a grand felicitation ceremony organised by the Bahujan Sahitya Academy on Sunday at Doddi Komurayya Hall, Sundarayya Vignana Kendram, Hyderabad.

The award was presented by Telangana Minister Adluri Laxman, who attended the event as the chief guest. Bahujan Sahitya Academy National President Nalla Radhakrishna felicitated Kiran Kumar Rao with a ceremonial shawl in recognition of his contributions.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Adluri Laxman said that the Joint Action Committee (JAC) played a pivotal role in the Telangana statehood movement. He noted that the hunger strikes, road blockades, rallies, and protest programmes organised across the state under the JAC banner exerted significant pressure on the Central Government and contributed to the formation of Telangana. He praised Dommati Kiran Kumar Rao for his dedicated service and leadership as a JAC Convener during the movement.

Expressing his gratitude after receiving the award, Dommati Kiran Kumar Rao thanked Bahujan Sahitya Academy National President Nalla Radhakrishna for selecting him for the prestigious honour. He dedicated the recognition to everyone who contributed to the Telangana statehood movement and reaffirmed his commitment to serving society.
