Prevent loss of crops and lives from Elephant Attacks .. •Request to the government’s Chief Chief Conservator of Forests Ajay Kumar Nayak… : Chandragiri Jana Sena in-charge Devara Manohar

Chandragiri Jana Sena party in-charge Devara Manohar submitted a request to the government’s  Chief Conservator of Forests Ajay Kumar Nayak to prevent loss of crops and lives from elephant attacks in the Chittoor district, especially in the Chandragiri constituency. He met Ajay Kumar Nayak in Vijayawada and explained the problems. Speaking on the occasion, Devara Manohar said that elephant attacks have increased dramatically in the Chittoor district in recent times. Due to this problem, huge damage is being done to the lives, crops and properties of farmers. Devara manohar explained Ajay Kumar Nayak current scenario in chandragiri constituency

1. Elephants enter villages several times a day and destroy crops, houses and stored grain. 

 2. Some farmers are guarding their fields at night, but are unable to protect themselves from elephant attacks. 

3. Recently, a farmer named Siddayya died in an elephant attack in Chinnagottigallu mandal, Chittecherla panchayat, Dasarigudem. 

 4. In the combined Chittoor district, 42 people have fallen victim to elephant attacks in the last 14 years. Except for a few of them, all the farmers lost their lives while protecting the crops they cultivated with hard work. 

Devar Manohar requested Chief Conservator of Forests of the Government for the following facilities

1. Electric fencing and solar fencing, digging trenches in areas near the forest can be used to move elephants towards the forest.

2. Increase the number of wildlife department personnel, so that the movements of elephants can be monitored. 

 3. Immediate compensation  Providing financial assistance to farmers affected by elephant attacks.

4.Establishing buffer zones between forests and agricultural lands for ong-term solution.

5.Community Awareness Programs Conducting awareness programs with revenue, horticulture, agriculture, police and forest officials so that farmers can know how to deal with elephants. 

6. By setting up water tanks in areas where elephants are most prevalent in the forest area, they can be prevented from entering villages responding to the devara Manohar requisition Ajay Kumar Nayak, the government’s Chief Conservator of Forests, responded positively to the above issues. He appreciated the good suggestions made. He said that he would conduct a field visit soon. Devara Manohar said that he has assured that he will discuss the issues with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan in the upcoming meeting on May 5th and take appropriate action.
