23 Grams of MDMA Seized; Two Arrested; Seizures Valued at ₹2.76 Lakh
Malkajgiri, September 22: The SOT Malkajgiri Zone team, along with Malkajgiri Police, arrested two persons who were allegedly attempting to sell MDMA near Malkajgiri Railway Station, police said. The police seized 23 grams of MDMA, two mobile phones, ₹5,600 in cash and a handbag. The total value of the seized property was estimated at ₹2.76 lakh.
According to police, the arrested persons were identified as Mahaveer Singh, 28, and Laxman Singh Rajpurohit, 45. Based on credible information, the police detained the two near a neem tree close to Malkajgiri Railway Station on the afternoon of September 21. During a search, MDMA allegedly concealed in polythene covers inside a handbag was recovered.
During the preliminary investigation, police found that the MDMA was allegedly brought from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and supplied to customers in Hyderabad.
Police said Kuldeep of Jodhpur, who was allegedly supplying the drug, and Kailash of Kokapet, who was allegedly a customer, are absconding. Special teams have been formed to trace them.
A case was registered at Malkajgiri Police Station under Crime No. 707/2026 and Sections 8(c) read with 22(c) and 29 of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway.
The operation was carried out by the SOT Malkajgiri Zone and Malkajgiri Police under the supervision of Malkajgiri Commissioner of Police B. Sumathi, IPS, and the guidance of SOT DCP K. Manohar, Malkajgiri Zone DCP CH. Sridhar, IPS, and Additional DCP M.D. Shakeer Hussain.
Police appealed to the public to share information regarding drug-related activities and cooperate in efforts to curb the illegal trafficking of narcotic substances.
