Appeal to Chief Minister and DGP for Relief from Promotion Delay

Hyderabad, June 29: Civil Sub-Inspectors (SIs) of the 2012 batch have appealed to the Telangana Government and the Director General of Police (DGP) to address the prolonged delay in their promotions, stating that they have been waiting for career advancement for the past 14 years. The officers said that despite completing over a decade of service, they continue to serve as Sub-Inspectors while many of their batchmates have already been promoted to the rank of Inspector. They described the situation as both professionally and personally distressing. According to the officers, 45 SIs from the 2012 batch were promoted to Inspector four years ago, followed by another 25 officers. However, nearly 60 officers from the same batch are still awaiting promotion, resulting in officers of the same recruitment batch holding different ranks. The officers also expressed concern over the recently implemented rule requiring two years of compulsory deputation before promotion. They said the new requirement would further delay their promotions, even after they have already waited for 14 years. They pointed out that officers from the 2004, 2007, and 2009 batches received promotions without being subjected to the compulsory deputation requirement. Applying the rule only to the remaining officers of the 2012 batch, they argued, is unfair and inconsistent. The affected officers have requested the DGP to grant a one-time exemption from the compulsory deputation rule for the remaining members of the 2012 batch. A delegation of the officers recently met DGP C.V. Anand in Hyderabad and submitted a representation explaining their grievances. The officers have also appealed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to intervene and ensure justice. They said it is demoralising to continue serving under colleagues from the same batch who have already been promoted and urged the government to resolve the issue at the earliest.
