Telangana Revenue, Housing and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy strongly criticized the opposition, saying that people are no longer in a position to trust those who ignored the poor during their ten years of ‘Hunger for Power’ and who once shackled farmers, even if they now appear in ‘colorful avatars’. He was speaking as the chief guest at the ‘Praja Palana – Pragathi Pranalika’ Cluster-1 meeting held in the limits of Edulapuram Municipality in Khammam district. Criticizing the opposition’s attitude, the minister said that those who, while in power, frightened farmers by saying ‘sowing paddy is like inviting death’, are now claiming to fight for farmers which, he said, is like ‘demons reciting the Vedas’. He remarked that people would not be fooled by photo opportunities involving planting saplings in pans and decorating pots with paint. He added that during the previous ten-year rule, officials never visited poor people directly, whereas now, the current government itself is going door-to-door collecting applications from citizens.

The minister further alleged that the opposition, unable to digest the government’s development activities, is ‘filled with poison’ and spreading negativity on the streets. He said that despite people teaching them lessons in elections three or four times, they still had not learned. Addressing the BRS party, he warned that if they try to destabilize the government through conspiracies and political manipulation, their dreams would remain only dreams. He asserted that as long as they have the blessings of the people, no one can harm the Congress government.‘Our government is not one that merely tells stories it is a government of action’, he said. He stated that the government has already provided 73,000 jobs and promised more good news for unemployed youth soon. He also clarified that while the previous government limited Indiramma housing schemes to paperwork, the current government is directly depositing ₹5 lakh financial assistance into beneficiaries bank accounts without any corruption.
The event was attended by District Collector TS Divakar, Additional Collector Srija, Municipal Commissioner Alla Srinivas Reddy, Chairperson Pokabattini Anita, Vice-Chairman Tammineni Naveen and councellors from 15 wards, among others.
