A deeply heartbreaking incident took place at the Bhadrachalam Government Area Hospital in Bhadradri Kothagudem District. An elderly man from Bhadrachalam passed away at the government hospital, but since there was either no ambulance available or it was not provided free of cost as it should have been the family members were forced to carry the dead body on their shoulders and walk home. Seeing such a scene makes one question why we are even living in a society like this. The negligence of the government hospital administration becomes clearly visible when a deceased person’s body has to be carried away in such a humiliating manner. In the past, when similar incidents happened in other states, we felt sorrow and sympathy. But now that such a tragedy has happened among us, it clearly exposes the negligence of this government and its officials.
Every person responsible for this incident should be suspended. Even though the District Collector regularly inspects the government hospital and repeatedly instructs the staff to provide better medical care and ensure all necessary facilities, it is unfortunate that there has been no change in the behavior or attitude of the staff.
We strongly demand that the District Collector take immediate action against all those responsible.
