Medchal – Malkajgiri, July 10: The Telangana Working Journalists Federation (TWJF) has announced statewide protests demanding the resolution of long-pending issues affecting journalists. As part of the agitation, a dharna will be held in front of the Medchal Collectorate on July 13, followed by a mass protest at the State Information Commissioner’s Office on July 15.
TWJF State leader Gummadi Hariprasad, Medchal-Malkajgiri District President Pabbu Mallesh Goud, and Banavath Ravi Naik urged journalists to participate in large numbers. They alleged that the government has failed to address key demands, including the issuance of new health cards, distribution of accreditation cards, allocation of house sites, pension benefits, and fee reimbursement for journalists’ children studying in private educational institutions.
The federation stated that existing health cards are accepted only at NIMS and demanded that new health cards be made valid at all corporate hospitals. It also called for the immediate issuance of accreditation cards, a monthly pension of ₹10,000 for journalists, and a Government Order providing 100% fee reimbursement for journalists’ children. TWJF leaders appealed to the state government to take immediate action on their demands.
