Residents’ welfare association’s sustained efforts lead to official intervention

Medipally, July 16: HYDRAA officials initiated measures to safeguard a 498-square-yard park site in Anaghapuri Colony under Boduppal Circle of Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation following repeated representations by the colony welfare association against alleged encroachment attempts.
According to the association, the park land in Survey No. 92 has been protected by residents since the colony was formed. In 2014, the then welfare association obtained official records related to the park through the Right to Information (RTI) Act and has since been maintaining the site for community activities.
The association alleged that repeated attempts were made to encroach upon the land in 2024 and again in 2026. Following representations to municipal authorities, the RDO, District Collector, GHMC officials, and HYDRAA Commissioner Ranganath, the matter was taken up for action.
On Thursday, HYDRAA officials inspected the park site and initiated preventive measures to ensure that no further encroachment takes place. Welfare Association President Ravula Srinivas Reddy and colony members welcomed the action and thanked the authorities for protecting the public open space.
