SAINIKPURI: The agitation by power distribution artisans of the Southern Power Distribution Company (TGSPDCL) has intensified as workers continue to press for their long-pending demands. As part of the statewide protest, artisans staged a second phase of demonstrations on Monday in front of division offices at Sainikpuri, expressing strong dissatisfaction over the alleged indifferent attitude of both the government and management. Protesters stated that despite repeated peaceful demonstrations, their issues remain unresolved, forcing them to escalate their agitation. The Artisan Employees Joint Action Committee (JAC) announced the next phase of protests, including a large-scale demonstration and a “cook-and-protest” programme in front of circle offices on April 2. With a strike notice already served, JAC leaders confirmed that all artisan workers across the state will go on an indefinite strike from April 8 if their demands are not addressed. They warned that the movement will continue until justice is delivered and accused the authorities of ignoring workers who contribute significantly to the organisation’s functioning. The leaders urged the management to initiate immediate talks, stating that failure to respond would lead to serious consequences. JAC leaders Venkat Reddy (Habsiguda Circle Chairman), Christopher (Co-Convener), Bal Reddy, Rangu Janayya Goud, Upender Reddy, Santosh Reddy, Yadagiri, Malla Reddy, Ramu, Johnny, Rama, Mamata, and Suguna participated in the protest.
