The National Union of Journalists (India) – NUJ(I) successfully held its national meeting in New Delhi. This gathering marked a significant step in strengthening the unity of journalists and protecting press freedom. The meeting was conducted and witnessed active participation from state leaders, senior journalists and representatives from media associations.
Key topics discussed at the meeting included the increasing attacks on journalists, the need for protective legislation, job security for media personnel, ethical challenges in digital journalism, the influence of online platforms and the protection of journalists dignity, safety and professional rights. Although some representatives from Telangana couldn’t attend due to health reasons, special arrangements were made for their virtual participation through online platforms. This reflects NUJ(I)’s commitment to inclusive representation using modern communication tools. During the meeting, leaders resolved to present key proposals to the central government, focusing on the creation of laws for journalists protection and implementation of welfare schemes in various states. With the successful conclusion of this national session, NUJ(I) reaffirmed its commitment to journalists rights, press freedom and constitutional values. The event stood as a collective platform for promoting responsible journalism and safeguarding the media community.
